Cricket Ipswich would like to express its condolences to the family of Don Moore following his passing this week.
Don will be remembered as a generous and highly respected family and local business man who was a life-long supporter of cricket in Ipswich.
He was a regular at Ivor Marsden, where he would support his son Aaron in his role as head coach of the Ipswich Hornets men’s Premier Cricket team.
It was a Saturday afternoon ritual that also combined a few punts on the races, a beer or two, and a keen interest in the players, coaches and supporters around the cricket scene.
The Hornets playing group took great inspiration from ‘Donny’s’ presence, as he fought on bravely to show his support for others.
Over many years, Don made a significant contribution to community cricket as well.
His business generously sponsored Northsiders, with that commitment spanning back as far to his time as the publican at the Racehorse Hotel at Bundamba when he supported Waysiders.
The family ties to the cricket community will run strong for many years to come, as Don’s grandchildren enjoy the game.
Cricket Ipswich sends its best wishes to Don’s wife Julie, as well as Brendon, Aaron, Karlie, Leah and their extended family at this time.
Don’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 4 at 11am at the Ipswich Turf Club.
